Our first week of this second year started with the making of a video. We had a week to get to know each other, share our ideas and design a video.
Know yourself and the people around you.
In order to have a good relationship with the people in the group, we had to get to know each other. As soon as the groups were formed on the first day, we got together to talk to each other. We took advantage of this to make introductions but also to divide up the tasks. Knowing who does what and how in a team is what allows us to draw on the skills of each member. On the second day, after the conference on video editing, we did a brainstorming session to gather our ideas from the previous day. We then found our common thread as well as our rendering format, it was decided, we were going to use the codes of TikTok. From then on, on the third day, we shot our video in different places that suited us. Thanks to this ease and freedom, shooting the different sequences became natural.
Trusting each other and trusting ourselves.
On the whole, shooting the different rushes was easy, but respecting a minimum of text to stay true to our message was not so easy. Doing several tests, discussing what it looked like, re-shooting, all with coaching every day. Not only did we have a topic that dealt with work-life balance. But we also needed to address a younger, outside audience. As far as the subject was concerned, we had to divide up the messages that corresponded most to us. Staying true to who we are but also being natural were our values during this production. As far as our coaching is concerned, it is precisely the simplicity, our format and our bias towards a direct tone that appealed. Given that we were comfortable with our parts and our subjects, that's how we really got to know each other.
Producing yes, but not alone.
Shooting the different shots that would make up the video was now done. Now it was time to move on to the Derush stage, in order to keep the best rushes and be able to edit the video in its entirety. It took me some time on the fourth day, once the shots were assembled, I had to do the formatting to respect the TikTok codes. About knowing each other, I knew I was going to miss some details, so during the editing process, I regularly did renderings to discuss it, to know what was right and what was wrong. For example, the size of the text, the layout of the tabs, I had to be meticulous, and when you work, you put your mark on it. So you don't necessarily see what you're missing. The fact is that in a team effort, it has to be as smooth as possible for everyone.
Anyway, we may not have won this Storytelling, but it will have increased our skills, both in thinking and in group relations. The fact is, being in a group and knowing each other makes it much easier to reach the objectives.
